Newport Town School is a Pre-K through 6th grade elementary school located in Newport Center, Vermont

Good afternoon Newport Town School families,

Now that we know we will not be returning to school this year, it is more important than ever to work together for the sake of our students. We are very committed to doing our best to help students and their families during this difficult time. Teachers have been posting assignments and trying to contact families to make sure our students still have educational experiences. In addition to academic assignments, I have seen PE, nursing, library, art, music and guidance all creating ways to connect with kids. I know this is a challenging time for teachers, parents and students. Please know that we want to help and we are all in this together. We worry when we cannot connect with your family, so I urge you, if you have not had contact with your child's teachers, please reach out to them. Perhaps we do not have the best contact information at this time. If you are feeling overwhelmed, we may be able to help.

As many of you know, today we switched our food service to the Abbey Group. This created some challenges with the route and timing. Please accept our apologies. We will publish a new route via Facebook, webpage and school messenger around 5:00 p.m. I also received a report of a family's food being stolen today. Hopefully, once we get the route down people can meet us at the stop to ensure this doesn't happen again. Also, please thank our delivery folks- they are working hard to help you.

If you are not sure how to reach your student's teachers, feel free to reach out to me. You may call 334-5201 x1101 and leave a message. Make sure to leave a callback number. Or you may email me at wendy.wood@nscuvt.org

We will keep you updated, as we learn more about what the rest of the year might look like for students.

Stay safe!
